PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am an artist and an auditor; I love to combine these passions in my work. I am always interested in exploring the intersections of different disciplines and to explore new boundaries. I am looking for the inner self or the essence beyond the appearance of what I paint, being focused on capturing the emotions and expressions of the moment. My artwork contains elements from figurative to abstraction, using different media, from oil paint to collage.

EXHIBITIONS

This project consisted of painting an autoportrait daily for a few months to study how the events over the day impacted the artwork. The study went beyond the boundaries. For one month I have given a note to each day and changed the artwork with one friend to see if she guesses how it was my day. During this time, she also sent me a selfie and I had to guess her day considering the picture. At the end of the month, we determined a correlation between the “guessed” note and the “actual” note given by each of us.

The conclusions were overwhelming. After the project, I realized that the period I had during the realization of the artwork was very tough, and how the artwork reflected my state, beyond the superficial note given by me. It was an introspection, a study, a journey; moments from my childhood became alive, memories that I couldn’t imagine at the start of the project.

All these feelings were captured in more than 70 artworks.
